This massive haul of cannabis was discovered during a swoop by the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Detectives arrested a man in Trafford Park after the major £4 million drugs seizure.
Seven men were held in total after NCA officers uncovered more than 400 kilogrammes of cannabis. A shipping container unloaded from a vessel which docked at the Port of Liverpool from Spain was followed by investigators.
It was collected by a HGV and driven to an industrial premises in Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire, where the NCA said officers arrested three men as the container was unloaded.
Three other men were arrested in the Kirkham area of Lancashire before the seventh was held in the Trafford Park area, the NCA said.
The seizure happened last Sunday, May 27, but details have only just been released. All seven men were held and quizzed on suspicion of conspiring to import class B drugs. They have now been released pending further investigations.
Greg McKenna, head of NCA investigations for the north, said: “This is a significant disruption of an organised crime network that has stopped the proceeds of crime funding further criminality.”
