POLICE have seized more than 400g of cannabis after pulling over an unregistered, unlicensed driver on the Stuart Hwy near Katherine on Wednesday.
Officers spotted the 31-year-old man driving north of Katherine at about 2.45pm during a routine patrol and pulled him over due to the poor condition of his vehicle.
A registration check revealed the car was unregistered and the man’s licence had expired.
Police then searched the vehicle and discovered 420g of cannabis hidden underneath the driver’s seat.
The man was arrested and taken to the Katherine watch house where he was charged with unlawfully supplying cannabis, possessing a trafficable quantity of cannabis in a public place, driving unlicensed, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving while uninsured.
He was bailed to appear in the Katherine Local Court on May 24.
The arrest follows that of a 56-year-old Darwin woman and her 15-year-old grandson who were allegedly caught with 2.7kg of cannabis and $17,700 cash in their possession last month.
